Berkeley is so pretentious…

…that even the dogs walk around with baguettes.

Don’t you think you’ve posted enough phallic-oral images for one week?

All that dog is missing is an ascot, beret and RayBan Aviator sunglasses.

    My, isn’t that a well-trained dog!
My Big Dog wouldn’t have kept that baguette whole for a second - it would’ve gone down without touching the sides.

(Ahem - who is actually going to eat a baguette carried unwrapped in a dog’s mouth?)

I know people in here in Los Angeles that only give their dogs bottled water to drink.

yma o hyd: I know a handful of furries who wouldn’t mind swallowing that bread. Relatively speaking.

Ringo: I find the water in L.A. undrinkable myself, so I understand how a dog-lover might pamper their pooch that way. Once you’re used to crystalline pure Sierra mountain water (that we get in the Bay Area), L.A. tap water tastes like industrial effluent.

I dunno - that is definitely a pampered pooch. I bet he never had to live rough, fending for himself, like mine had to before he came to us.
As for the bottled water - well, dogs have a brilliant sense of smell, but their taste is far less sensitive than ours. also, their stomachs are much better at dealing with suspicious stuff which we wouldn’t touch any longer, without them getting sick.
(Mind - that dog needs to go on a diet - my vet would tell me off in no uncwertain terms if I let my dog become overweight!)

    zombie,

My dogs drink from the swimming pool.

No matter how many times I refill their water bowl, they just keep drinking from the pool. There’s no stopping them.

BTW - The water in much of So.Cal is pretty bad but the water in the City of Los Angeles is actually from the Sierras, via the LA Aqueduct…and it tastes alright I think (’course I was raised on the stuff).

What? No arugula? No wonder that dog is fat, he’s a carb junkie! Call PETA! Have the owners arrested for calorie cruelty.

Ringo: Well, LA water is from the very southern tip of the Sierras, and has to pass through a lot of alkaline soil. It’s also treated heavily with disinfectant chemicals. You only find it palatable because you’re used to it: When I get off the plane at LAX and have a drink at a water fountain in the terminal, I almost gag every time and have to spit it out. Tastes like a cup of swimming pool water with an Alka-Seltzer tablet and a teaspoon of salt in it. I can’t even brush my teeth with the tap water in LA city — have to use bottled water. Generally, I’m no snooty prissy “taste snob,” and can tolerate just about anything, but for some reason I find LA water unbearable. Only once did I “get used to it” after having to stay there for two months. Afterwards, when I came back to the Bay Area, the first sip of tap water tasted like the nectar of the Gods.

    zombie,

Well, I admit that I have a water filtration system attached to my tap water in my house which does improve the flavor a bit….although I do have a soft spot for the taste of pool water, like the smell of freshly mowed grass, it reminds me of those carefree summer days of my childhood.

    Be careful, Zombie,

The moonbats are trying to get the dam that brings the Bay Area its delicious water bulldozed, to return the reservoir to its pristine “meadowland” status. If that happens, God knows where you’ll be getting your water. I think the moonbats’ preferred solution is for all the people in the Bay Area to go elsewhere.

I’m trying to get myself off bottled water now. Taste isn’t really an issue for me nowadays.
