Welcome back from a well deserved rest; fantastic evidence here of the left’s idiocy.

  2. 2Dave Surls on Dec 1, 2008 at 3:07 am:

For a minute there, I thought we’d finally wised up, and the army was about to liquidate a bunch of lefties, Pinochet style.

But, now I see it’s just another protest.

Well, at least this will make Skip happy.

  3. 3DangerousNate on Dec 1, 2008 at 6:52 am:

I wish someone with a lightsaber (a fake one mind you) had jumped in and attacked the “soldiers.” I would’ve done that, just to screw with’em.

Of course I may not have known it was a protest and just walked away very quickly.

  4. 4David Krumm on Dec 1, 2008 at 11:27 am:

On the legitimacy of those soldiers:
    - There’s one guy in a pith helmet, flack jacket, and rucksack. I think he’s for real because none of that stuff is cheap enough to buy for just a protest and the helmet and rucksack look worn. Plus it all fits and he’s wearing it correctly.
    - “Lockwood” and the guy with the military tats are the next most likely to be real. First, they’ve both rolled their sleeves in the military approved manner. (You would not believe how closely regulated sleeves rolling is.) Second, the uniforms fit. In both cases the insignia on the uniforms seem a little strange. Lockwood doesn’t have much, and I’m pretty sure the upside down colonial flag (as well as his other strange patches and the writing on the back of the uniform) isn’t official. But those insignia are only velcroed on these days (clever, huh?) so Lockwood might have pulled his off to avoid trouble and maybe Mil tats just has a multi-layered protest going on.
    - There’s a hippy hair guy who never get’s close to the camera. His seems to be wearing his uniform correctly, and it might be broken in, but he sure didn’t get that haircut on base.
    - There’s a guy in a sock cap who really needs to tighten his vest – almost like he’s never worn one for real. His uniform also looks pretty stiff, and devoid of insignia. That sock cap might, or might not, be regulation. For chilly conditions your ACU ECWCS Jacket/Parka http://www.uspatriotstore.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=60000 has a lovely hood and there’s the ACU Fleece Watch http://www.uspatriotstore.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=8733 .
    - Finally there’s the guy in the cheap goggles, parchment crisp two sizes too big uniform, and Carhartt work boots. I don’t think he’s for real. But heck, maybe he burned all his gear in protest and got scrawny when he quit having to take PT tests.

    here’s a great article in Jewcy: http://www.jewcy.com/post/long_history_jihad_subcontinent#comment-form

meanwhile, at the same site, here is what must be the most retarded article i’ve seen in a long time: http://www.jewcy.com/post/occupation_makes_occupiers_ugly_even_israeli_occupiers
the writer – living in NY, natch, and having his articles translated into Arabic for Al Jazeera – looks like precisely the sort of douchebag that would be involved in this union square stunt.

how come people like this never seem to get murdered in mumbai or jerusalem. oh yeah, because they live in NY and SF where they are safer than safe can be.

  8. 8Fenris on Dec 1, 2008 at 4:03 pm:

I’ve probably gotten flippant after seeing four years of Bay Area drama, but this is actually kinda disappointing. There’s IDA, but no PETA? Is IDA supposed to be PETA West or something?

  9. 9ProtestShooter on Dec 1, 2008 at 4:57 pm:

There’s a whole slew of animal rights groups other than PETA, but PETA’s obviously gotten a lot of the mindshare. Both PETA and IDA were founded in the early ’80s.

There are some odd things about the guy who is wearing the Kevlar helmet, IBA body armor and ruck sack. While his Kevlar cover has the desert MARPAT camouflage pattern that the Marine Corps uses and the IBA has a coyote brown cover also used by the Marine Corps, his pants have the DCU style camouflage pattern used by the Army. This could be an indication that he’s just some civilian who cherry-picked uniform items at an Army surplus store. He could have also gotten his ruck sack from an Army surplus store as well, and PASGT helmets go for $25-50 on Ebay. While IBAs are expensive, he could be just wearing the outer shell.

Both guys from 2ID look like they were in the military. All of their uniform items match except for their boots. You don’t wear black boots with DCUs, however they are the correct issue for the branch of service that they claim to have been in. While upside-down flag boy has definitely added a few non-regulation additions to his uniform, the upside-down flag, while upside-down, is the appropriate flag for the uniform.

While Marine-with-goggles may be too scrawny for his uniform, he is still the only one with all of the correct uniform items for the branch of service he claims to represent.

Douchebag-with-goatee probably wasn’t in the military. His ill-fitting MOLLE vest is of a type that isn’t issued by any branch of the military. The same goes for his watch cap. Furthermore, his boots are Army-issued cold weather boots while his uniform is a Marine Corps MARPAT uniform. Ironically, in the picture of him kneeling in the mall and pointing his imaginary rifle, he is the only one who is holding his “rifle” correctly, in other words, down. IBA boy looks like he is doing tai chi moves and Marine-with-goggles just looks bored.

“Soft shoe profile superstar” aka hippy hair guy wasn’t in the military. I can just look at him and tell.

Three things caught my eye that I thought were interesting. They may not mean anything, but they caught my eye, nonetheless:

    1) Lockwood wasn’t wearing a combat patch. While wearing a combat patch is optional, it could mean that Lockwood was just some REMF that never stepped foot in theater, let alone knew what the mean streets of Mosul were really like.

    2) Except for ol’ Soft Shoe, all of them have their pants bloused properly in their boots. This is something that everybody in the military does, regardless of branch.

    3) All of them are wearing the same black gloves with the fingertips cut off. Why is this the one item of clothing that they all have in common?

In general, this protest didn’t reflect the war in Iraq at all. They weren’t trying to tell truth about the war, however. They were just merely repeating what they knew the far-left crowd wanted to hear: War in Iraq=bad, US=bad.

  11. 11Dave Surls on Dec 1, 2008 at 6:33 pm:

Well, here’s some of IVAW’s membership. I guess you could write them and ask to see a copy of their DD-214, if you don’t think they’re the real deal.

“how come people like this never seem to get murdered in mumbai or jerusalem. oh yeah, because they live in NY and SF where they are safer than safe can be.”

Please think about that statement for a moment. Perhaps it was meant to be ironic, but if so, it didn’t come across.

    Anyway…

I went through the shopping center a few hours later, but apparently I missed the whole thing! I suspect a lot of people who saw it also missed it, though. I’ve seen this kind of thing in action, and often it’s incredibly hard to figure out what the hell people in groups like this are doing/protesting, without getting closer than you want to. So many protest groups are weirdly bad at theater. Add to that the general chaos of downtown SF on Black Friday…

I liked the screaming woman getting dunked in the fountain at Yerba Buena, though. I think I went to college with her big sister, or at least her spiritual thespic big sister.

Arrest anti-American protestors In San Francisco? Surely, you jest. The only way they’d get arrested is if they committed a serious crime, like blocking the road when Gavin Newsom’s limousine was coming through, or something equally as heinous.

Only respect veterans if they agree with you politically? If they were all gung hoe for McCain would you be questioning their validity? The left doesn’t do that to right wing veterans you should have the decency to do the same.

  18. 18Dave Surls on Dec 13, 2008 at 5:06 am:

“Only respect veterans if they agree with you politically?”

Not when they behave like spoiled two year olds.

I also have no respect for veterans like Tim McVeigh, Benedict Arnold, Adolf Hitler or John Kerry…for various reasons.

  19. 19Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 16, 2008 at 5:51 pm:

Fallacy one you brought up Adolf Hitler. Name one right wing veteran you don’t respect? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKFYpd0q9nE do you respect Cleland? or was his medals “faked” like Kerry’s?

I don’t know enough about Max Cleland to answer that question. I have a lot of respect for Dan Inouye, though. Don’t think much of his politics or party affiliation, but I do respect him as a man.

What’s all this have to do with these halfwits blocking traffic in the City?

  25. 25Dave Surls on Dec 16, 2008 at 10:01 pm:

‘or was his medals “faked” like Kerry’s?’

Who said anything about Kerry’s medals being faked?

Why don’t you respect Kerry’s Silver Star Bronze Star and three purple hearts?

  27. 27Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 17, 2008 at 4:45 pm:

“I don’t know enough about Max Cleland to answer that question.” Thats a good response I respect that. I suggest you read Chasing Ghosts by Paul Rieckhoff, he is probably more left leaning but he was a soldier and he just talks about the random crap the army cuts down on that would help soldiers. He does not go into politics as much as what life was like for a soldier in Iraq.

  28. 28Dave Surls on Dec 17, 2008 at 5:28 pm:

Adolf Hitler won two Iron Crosses in WWI…still don’t respect the guy.

  29. 29Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 17, 2008 at 5:57 pm:

Okay, stop comparing veterans to Hitler. Just tell me why you don’t respect Kerry.

  30. 30Dave Surls on Dec 18, 2008 at 9:26 am:

    Hitler was a veteran, nitwit.

Kerry was a commie propagandist during the Vietnam War. A stone cold traitor in the mold of William Joyce.

    An absolute and utter scumbag.

Naturally, he’s also a big wheel in the Democrat Party.

  31. 31Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 18, 2008 at 3:53 pm:

So you don’t like Kerry because he expressed his opinion after he fought? Also I know Hitler was a veteran but when you compare Hitler to people it is just frivolous.

Do you respect these veterans? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arlington_West

  33. 33Dave Surls on Dec 18, 2008 at 4:37 pm:

    “Do you respect these veterans?”

No, I have no respect for modern day Lord Haw Haws who tried to damage American morale with cheap propaganda stunts, whether they’re veterans or not.

I have no respect for traitors like Benedict Arnold, and no respect for traitors like them.

  34. 34Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 19, 2008 at 5:54 pm:

They are traitors because they oppose something you believe in?

  35. 35Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 19, 2008 at 5:59 pm:

Also there is a difference between selling military secrets for money and peacefully protesting. A big difference, and if you think not your a authoritarian fascist.

  36. 36Dave Surls on Dec 20, 2008 at 5:15 pm:

The Brits executed William Joyce after WWII for engaging in propaganda activities which served the Nazi cause.

“William Joyce, on the 18th of September, 1939, and on other days between that day and the 2nd of July, 1940, being a person owing allegiance to our Lord the King, and while a war was being carried on by the German Realm against our King, did traitorously adhere to the King’s enemies in Germany, by broadcasting propaganda.”–wiki

    Convicted on the above charge…

“Joyce was executed on 3 January 1946, at Wandsworth Prison…”–wiki

Getting rid of propagandists working on behalf of the enemy sounds like a fine idea to me.

  37. 37Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 22, 2008 at 8:08 pm:

Propagandist’s are used by the government. So your idea of Propagandists is protesters. And then you advocate killing them. You do realize that killing people who disagree with you is exactly what totalitarian governments do. Or is that to big of a word? I think that you and this blog is full of a bunch of insane nutters but I would never harm any of you for your opinion. Our country was founded on protesters.

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”- S. G. Tallentyre, referring to Voltaire. Often attributed to Voltaire.

‘“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”- S. G. Tallentyre’

Apparently, the Labour government in the UK in 1946 didn’t agree with that principle. Neither do I.

  39. 39Dave Surls on Dec 22, 2008 at 9:57 pm:

“Iva Ikuko Toguri D’Aquino (July 4, 1916 – September 26, 2006), a Japanese-American, was the woman most identified with “Tokyo Rose”, a generic name given by Allied forces in the South Pacific during World War II to any of approximately a dozen English-speaking female broadcasters of Japanese propaganda.”

“Identified by the press as Tokyo Rose after the war, she was detained for a year by the U.S. military before being released for lack of evidence. Upon return to the U.S., the Federal Bureau of Investigation began an investigation of her activities and she was subsequently charged by the United States Attorney’s Office with eight counts of treason. Her 1949 trial resulted in a conviction on one count, making her the seventh American to be convicted on that charge.”–wiki

Tallentyre might defend your right to say anything you want..but liberal Democrats sure won’t. And, if you doubt me…just ask Iva, Eugene Debs or Gus Hall.

  40. 40Rocket Scientist the 2nd on Dec 23, 2008 at 8:32 pm:

Your a fucking idiot. The framers were liberals, which means they wanted change. The conservatives of the time were the British. You want to kill veterans because they dont agree with you. You are not an American.

It’s among the list of easiest computer upgrade types of procedures one can think about. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

On the other hand, they do not always realize that there are many benefits for losing weight in addition. Doctors state that overweight people have problems with a variety of conditions that can be directly attributed to their particular excess weight. The good thing is that people that are overweight in addition to suffering from numerous diseases can reduce the severity of the illnesses by way of losing weight. It is easy to see a progressive but marked improvement with health as soon as even a negligible amount of fat loss is accomplished.
