The earth is warming. There is absolutely no question about that. Spring is coming earlier. Ice caps are melting. The facts are known. The only question is what’s causing it. And the general scientific consensus is that it’s the actions of humanity. We better hope they’re right. If it’s humans causing it, there is at least a hope we can do something about it. If it’s some other cause, we’re definitely in trouble.

If recollection isnt off kilter the late,great LSD chef Owsley also believed an Ice Age was coming and even moved to austrailia to avoid it. Hmmm…maybe the science czar was sampling some of Owsley’s finest… ;-)

To Carl: Check Newsweek from 1975, which stated that Global cooling was the scientific consensus. Here is a piece of that article: To scientists, these seemingly disparate incidents represent the advance signs of fundamental changes in the world’s weather. The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down.

I don’t think anybody really believes or even stated that Al Gore invented Global Warming. He just exploits the fallacy for money. If you research, you’ll find articles that pretty much seesaw back and forth between global cooling and warming at least 100 years. And to those who are paying attention, there is an understanding of the exploitation of meteorological extremes to affect government-backed funding of climate change. Global Warming, Global Cooling, hey, it’s continuous and relentless. So are hurricanes. And tornadoes. And pretty much every other so-called weather “extreme”. As long as there is government funding of climate research, we will continue to get doomsday predictions from scientists. What motivation do they have for saying “climate change is constant and inevitable?” There is no more research grant money in that!

That said, for those in the audience who think ice age warnings were the predominant scare in the early 1970s and that the global warming thingy came later, I recommend you watch Soylent Green, which was made in 1973. Global warming is featured prominently. Global warming was debated hotly in the science fiction magazines I read back in the late 1970s.

In other words, Al Gore did not invent global warming.
