Simply put, the actions of tea parties far contradict the tea parties rhetoric, so the whole crying about “we can’t be racist cause we love der freedom” will fall on a lot of deaf ears.

I don’t deny that I benefit from white privilege. I realize that my skin talks for me on occasions. Racial inequity cannot be resolved solely by looking at the life conditions of disadvantaged groups, but by explicitly discussing the implicit advantages that whites as a group hold in society. IMy skin gives me access to employment others wouldn’t receive, educational benefits, etc. How my people got to the place they are in society was based on the backs of non-white people. The work is to struggle against it and institutional racism.

The “class” of anyone’s European ancestors, and the possible admixture of Native American genes, in no way diminishes the fact the the very definition of a Mestizo is someone with European ancestors.

It’s completely irrelevant whether or not some Mexicans distance themselves culturally from their European ancestors. So do most “white” Americans too. How many Irish-Americans speak Gaelic? How many Jewish-Americans can trace their ancestry beyond two or three generations at most? How many Americans with the last name “Jones” consider themselves Welsh, or European?

What is bizarre about it is: its the Democrats that supported slavery and racism! But most today wouldn’t know it (or that the REPUBLICAN party was the anti-slavery party).
