Noticed she doesn’t support gun control.Other then that, its a very socialist pie in the sky platform. I wonder why she isn’t in line on that issue. Is there a reason she is for the right to bear arms?

MikalM: richb: Like a lot of the radical left, the Peace and Freedom party is anti-gun control since they see it (correctly, in my view) as an attempt to disarm the masses and put them at the mercy of the police and military. Gun control is much more a product and key component of establishment-Left/Nanny-Statist thinking.

You beat me to the punch, MikalM; you are exactly correct. Put more directly: The radical left wants the proletariat to have as many guns as possible so that when the day of The Revolution comes they can defeat the police and army and seize control of the government by sheer force of arms.

The subtle but key distinction between the anti-gun control fringe right and the anti-gun control fringe left is that the ringe right wants the the guns to fight off a government that may become too controlling of personal freedoms -- whereas the fringe left wants the guns so they can seize control and impose a government that is infinitely more controlling of personal freedoms.

Anyway, the very name of her party, "The Peace and Freedom Party," is pretty Orwellian in this context.

Everything about the White House is symbolic, that's what made Reagan's removal of Carter's panels a classic. In that vein, in this day and age, the White House probably should have them. The only trouble is that it can continue to send the fallacious message that every home should and/or will have them some day.

On the subject of solar panels on the White House. Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed on the White House during his term (Reagan had them removed though). They heated water. They were given to a small college when they were taken off the White House. They are still in place on a building but no longer work (the service life is short for solar panels, the ones my folks installed about that time don't work anymore either). One panel from that system is at Carters Museum today.

The Bush Administration installed a new solar system on the White House in 2003 so this campaign is rather pointless. The White House isn't the greatest place for a solar installation to begin with so no matter what they do its largely symbolic.

On the subject of the nice, kind of kooky, older lady running for office. In my neck of the woods there is a woman who runs for US president. She has run for that office for at least,,,,, since the Nixon years I think. She once bought a "for rent" sign from me once a few years ago for her apartment building. She seems to have the typical lefty, liberal, platform until she gets to the part about aliens. Yes, aliens! She seems like a nice person otherwise. So its not just a SF thing.

Dianna: Have I mentioned lately that I love you?

Hey Dianna - Back off, gravewrecker. Get your own ghoul!

Pictures by Zombie
(To the tune of Pictures of Lily,
with apologies to Peter Townshend and The Who)

I used to be afraid of moonbats;
I thought they’d swoop and bite.
But then I laid my eyes on zombietime,
And there I saw the light.

For lo! I saw ten thousand pictures
Unfolding on the screen.
And lo! I saw the lamest losers there
That man has ever seen.
That man has ever seen!

Pictures by zombie showed me moonbat lunacy.
Pictures by zombie quelled my moonbat fright.
Pictures by zombie solved my moonbat problem.
Pictures by zombie fixed my moonbat plight.

Pictures by zombie.
Zombie, oh zombie.
Zombie, oh zombie.
Pictures by zombie!

And when I saw the world through zombie’s mind,
I fell in love with zombie.
I yearned to learn where zombie I could find:
’Twas in the cemetery.

Z’s undead – a ghoul that lives in the grave,
And learning this, I cried.
And so I killed myself, our love to save;
Once dead, I then un-died.

Pictures by zombie made undeath so wonderful.
Pictures by zombie helped me stalk at night.
Pictures by zombie solved my mortal problem.
Pictures by zombie made undeath all right.

Now me and zombie live together, in the grave.
And with undying love forever, I will crave

Take that!
